I suppose because rice can be somewhat bland and ketchup adds not just the Tomato flavor but it adds salt. I did not know that people enjoy rice with ketchup. Instructions to make Ketchup Rice:
  1. Dissolve the bouillon cube with hot water (less than 320ml). Make the total amount of bouillon 320ml and pour it over the (rinsed) rice. Leave it for more than 60 minutes.
  2. Cut the onion, bell peppers, and sausages (or chicken) in small pieces.
  3. Spread the oil in a pan and fry the onion. Then add the bell peppers, sausages and the frozen vegetables. Fry well.
  4. Add the sake and ketchup in the rice. Then pour them into the pan. Make the surface flat. Make sure the rice is soaked in the water.
  5. Put a lid over the pan. Lower the heat when it boils and cook for 10-15 minutes. Leave it for another 15 minutes without heating WITH the lid on.
  6. Open the lid, mix well and enjoy!

Boil white rice (regular or instant - follow package directions.) Add ketchup (amount according to taste.) Enjoy warm or cold! *Extra rice can be stored in fridge for future meals. The rice is usually pan-fried with ketchup and chicken, then wrapped in a thin sheet of egg omelette. It's one of my children's favorite meals with fried rice, eggs, and lots of ketchup.
